2013 Man in Extreme Environments

- Erich Gnaiger (CEO Oroboros Instruments) and Verena Laner (Project Manager MitoCom Tyrol) recently met Christopher McDougall at the “Man in the Extremes” event in Trondheim. Christopher McDougall is the author of the famous book “Born to Run” and gave a fascinating talk about the Tarahumaras – a hidden tribe in Mexico who, being best distance runners in the world, are considered the Ultra-Runners.
- The “Man in the Extremes” event was organized by CERG (Cardiovascular Exercise Research Group of the NTNU University Trondheim, Norway). Besides Christopher McDougall, Paul Rose (president of the Royal Geographic Society) and Børge Ousland (a leading polar explorer) gave stunning insights about their experiences in extreme environments.
