Coenzyme Q - a mobile redox compound in the electron transfer system
Coenzyme Q is a lipid composed of a benzoquinone ring with an isoprenoid side chain, two methoxy groups and one methyl group being present in all tissues and cells. In humans, CoQ10 occurring in the mitochondrial electron transfer system transfers electrons from dehydrogenases and respiratory complexes downstream to Complex III.
